Tourism jobs, gig work and changing hours

If you work at a park, a resort or a restaurant on International Drive, your hours may swing with the seasons. Drivers, cleaners and freelancers see the same thing. Your tax credit is based on the household income you expect for the whole year, so make your best estimate and update the Marketplace when it changes. The final credit is settled on your tax return.

Students at UCF and Valencia can usually stay on a parent's plan until 26. Turning 26 and losing that plan opens a Special Enrollment Period, so you don't have to wait for November.

Lots of people move to Orange County from other states and from Puerto Rico. A move can open a Special Enrollment Period too, though some moves come with a rule about having had coverage before.

AdventHealth and Orlando Health

Orlando Health is a hospital system, not an insurance company, and the same goes for AdventHealth. They are the two big names here, with AdventHealth Orlando and Orlando Regional Medical Center among their best-known hospitals. Which plans have them in network depends on the plan and the year. Check each plan's directory for your hospital and doctors, or ask a licensed agent to look with you.

Some park and restaurant workers ask about HPG because they can apply any month. Know what you're getting: it's fixed indemnity, paying set amounts like $300 per ER day on Select 2000. There's no out-of-pocket maximum, it isn't minimum essential coverage, health questions apply and it doesn't cover counseling the way ACA plans do.
