Who's shopping for coverage in Lee County
Cape Coral's canal neighborhoods, the growth out in Lehigh Acres, older Fort Myers, the beach and island towns and Bonita Springs to the south all fall in one county. A lot of the work is in construction, roofing, pools, landscaping and other home trades, plus restaurants and shops that get busy in winter. Many of those jobs are 1099 or seasonal, with no group plan.
Part-year residents and people who retired before 65 tend to ask the same thing: will a plan bought here work for me? Answers below, and our self-employed guide covers the 1099 side.

Lee Health and checking your network
Lee Health is the big hospital system here, with hospitals in Fort Myers and Cape Coral and Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida. Some people in Bonita Springs and Estero also see doctors over the line in Naples.
Every plan has its own network, and two plans from the same company can differ. Look up each doctor and hospital you care about in that plan's directory, then call the office to confirm. We won't tell you a plan includes a hospital, because only the plan's directory can.
If you live here part of the year
You buy a Marketplace plan where you live, so if Lee County is your main home, you shop Lee plans. Most networks here are local HMOs. Emergency care has to be covered even out of network, but routine visits up north usually aren't. If you spend months away, ask how a plan handles care outside Florida before you pick it.

ACA Marketplace
ACA prices depend on your income and age. Run the form to see your exact prices with your tax credit.
Marketplace prices depend on age, ZIP and income. If your income swings with the season, estimate the whole year, report changes to the Marketplace, and the credit gets settled on your tax return (Form 8962). Details are on our subsidies page.
HPG is fixed indemnity, not full health insurance. It pays set amounts, like $2,000 per hospital day on Select 2000, no matter the bill. No out-of-pocket maximum, not minimum essential coverage, and health questions apply.
